Ashley Barnett is an ed-tech enthusiast and thrives on providing teachers and students with optimal support with patience and professionalism. She serves as the Instructional Technology Specialist for Area 1 Elementary and Specialty Schools. Ashley leads as co-director for the DeKalb County School District’s Technology Competition. She has 13 years of teaching experience with DCSD. Her passion for teaching and experience with integrating technology into the classroom has allowed her to make individuals feel confident about their ability to utilize digital tools effectively. Ashley’s commitment to supporting teachers and students was recognized as she was named the Teacher of the Year at Princeton Elementary during the 2017-2018 school year.
Ashley is a lifelong learner and is committed to keeping up with the latest trends in educational technology. She is certified in Instructional Technology, Media Specialist (P-12), and Elementary Education (P-5). She also holds a Gifted and Online Teaching Endorsement. She is continuing her education as she is pursuing a doctorate in Educational Practice & Innovation with a concentration in Learning Design & Technologies from the University of South Carolina. Her research is focused on bringing awareness to STEM integration through problem-based learning experiences.
